Danville City

The region's urban core on the Dan River. Rehabbed tobacco warehouses fill the River District, the Caesars Virginia resort opened in 2024, and Averett University is here.

Pittsylvania County

Virginia's largest county by land area, wrapped around Danville. Chatham is the county seat, with Gretna and Hurt anchoring the rural north.

Halifax County

South Boston and the county seat of Halifax along the Dan and Staunton rivers. Virginia International Raceway sits at Alton near the North Carolina line.
